The small town lifestyle was not part of Samantha’s plan. Raised in Huntington, she had dreams of moving away to a big city and work in broadcasting. As a graduate from Huntington North High School, she was transformed by the theatre and radio broadcasting. She went on to graduate from Anderson University’s Communications department with a specialization in Audio/Video/Cinema Production in 2015. With an Emmy Award winning team, the dream to work in Television or Post Production in Cinema started to draw closer.
But opportunity arose to move back to her hometown and begin creating right here in Huntington. Samantha’s favorite quote comes from an actress she admires named Katherine Barrell, “Allow yourself to pivot.” And that is exactly what she did.
She started working with the great team at Lake City Bank and continues to stay active with various community projects. Her creative outlet is through her church as the head of the Sound and Live Stream Production Team. She also enjoys the occasional graphic novel, musical or play, and writing.
Working with Lafontaine Arts Council gave Samantha the chance to work with other creative thinkers to enhance young minds in what it means to create art. If it weren’t for the single-pivot to plan, the journey to rediscover her craft and assist others with their own would not have been made possible.
