Crestview Middle School Students honored by LAC

Three Crestview Middle School students were recently honored as LaFontaine Arts Council’s Artists of the month for March for their excellence in the fine arts areas of study. The students receiving this recognition are Laney Marshall, Andrew Gillespie and Mitchell Gerber.

The daughter of Seth & Erica Marshall of Huntington, Laney, an 8th grader, was nominated by her band teacher, Douglas McElhaney. According to Mr. McElhaney, “Laney has received two gold medals at ISSMA in both 7th and 8th grades and is an outstanding student.”

Mitchell Gerber, 8th grade, and a student in Leisl Haupert’s art class, was nominated by Mrs. Haupert’s student teacher, Morgan Bemisderfer. “Mitchell always does his work neatly and creatively. He follows directions with a positive attitude and is always willing to help around the classroom and heeds the advice I give him.” stated Ms. Bemisderfer. Mitchell is the son of Shane and Jennifer Gerber of Huntington.

Choir teacher Mr. Bryan Ringo, nominated Andrew Gillespie as the Artist of the Month for Choir. “Andrew has always been a student who cares passionately for his music. This passion carries him and those he sings with. He has performed various solos in our concerts and was part of the stage crew for the Crestview Musical.” Andrew is the son of Laura and Shaun Sharp of Huntington.
