Sarah Schwab

Sarah Schwab, a Wisconsin native, has called Huntington, Indiana home since she relocated in 1986. She has always enjoyed the sense of community she experienced in Huntington and found it to be a remarkable place to raise her four children. Sarah attended the University of Wisconsin-Rock County with a major in Art before leaving Wisconsin. Since then, she has continued her education by attending workshops, avidly reading, and collaborating with influential members of the local art community.

Sarah has been an educator working with Pathfinder Services since 2009 with her role evolving into an Art Activity Specialist in the Creative Abilities Art Program. As part of the Community Integration and Day Services Program, the art program is designed to educate and teach a diverse community of adults with disabilities. Sarah is an essential member of the team.

Sarah was involved in the preparation and organization of the Pathfinder Services portion of the annual art show and sale at the Disabilities Expo from 2014 through 2019. In 2015, Sarah was a curator for the Wunderkammer Gallery’s “The Big Show 2.0,” which featured work from area artists with disabilities. She has led three public “Cookies and Canvas” painting educational events in 2016, 2017, and 2018. In 2017, Sarah also curated the First Presbyterian Church Gallery’s show entitled “Re NEWal.” In 2019, she curated the “Don’t Judge a Book by its Cover” exhibit held at the Allen County Library Gallery.

In Sarah’s spare time, she continually practices her skills and creates art of her own. She uses a lot of natural materials foraged by her husband and then consigns, gifts, or keeps the pieces for her own enjoyment. Art has and will always be Sarah’s passion and an essential part of her life. Sarah continually seeks opportunities to share her joy for art with her community to enrich the quality of life for all. This desire led Sarah to accept the role of Board Member for the LaFontaine Arts Council (LAC). She looks forward to continuing involvement in such events as The Renaissance Fair, JeFFFest Art Auction, Pathfinder Services Toast to the Arts Annual Fundraiser, and the responsibilities and opportunities that come with her acceptance of a Board Member position on the LaFontaine Arts Council.
